Abstract: public interest in the personality of the long-term leader of the Soviet country I.V. Stalin, in particular, his attitude to the political events of 1917 in Russia at various stages of political activity and his public career, is not reduced. The personality of Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, his activities and controversial, from the point of view of opponents, the solutions to many major domestic and international problems continue to be in the field of view of politicians, historians, journalists and other members of the public. Regarding the political situation in Russia in 1917, it should be noted that Stalin was one of the organizers and leaders of the October armed uprising. After the victory of the October Revolution, he entered the CPS and for the next 5 years he was People’s Commissar for Nationalities and at the same time People’s Commissar of State Control.
