CULTURE OF BEHAVIOR AND ETIQUETTE CHECHENS IN CUSTOMS OF MUTUAL ASSISTANCE (XIX–XX CENTURY)

Abstract: the article, based on field materials, examines the culture of behavior and etiquette, as well as the peculiarities of communication during mutual aid, to some extent covered in the scientific articles of the author. Initially caused by economic necessity, the custom of mutual aid «belkhi» of Chechens has survived to the present time. Through «belkhi» production skills, norms of behavior were fixed and transferred, there was an exchange of knowledge between representatives of the senior and younger generation. Ethics imposes certain requirements to come to a «belhi». Young people, both girls and young men, had to adhere to certain rules of behavior: to try unquestionably to carry out instructions of the elders, to listen to their advice, not to argue, not to teach the elders, not to enter into a conversation with them on their own initiative, etc. «Belkhi» was a place not only for communication of people of different ages, but also a school of labor and moral education, where there was an exchange of knowledge.
