INFLUENCE OF THE FOOD CRISIS FOR THE REVOLUTION OF THE WORKING MASS OF RUSSIA IN THE YEARS OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR (AUGUST 1914 – FEBRUARY 1917)

Abstract: the article examines the food crisis in Russia during the First World War. The author used a significant archive material, revealing the growth of the revolutionism of workers in large industrial regions, in particular – Donbass. The rise in prices and the decline in real wages led to workers’ strikes. The slogans “Down with hunger!”, “Bread!” were dominant in the February 1917 bourgeois-democratic revolution.
