Abstract: in the article the main periods of the study of the Soviet military economics by Soviet and Russian historiography have been singled out.
The purpose of the study was to identify the main approaches, assessments and opinions on the economy of the USSR during the war in the domestic historiography. Therefore, in accordance with the goal, the tasks of this study were to examine theoretical and, perhaps, ideological views of scientists on the problems of the military economy. We consider this topic in connection with the approach of NATO troops and their military bases practically close to the state borders of Russia.
Possibilities of practical application of the theme of the military economy and national economic problems, which are associated with its development, are determined by the need to restructure the economy in case of war with the most likely enemy. Therefore, the brilliant historical experience of the Soviet Union in restructuring its civilian peace economy is very useful to study. Quite possibly, a rapid repetition of history and a new transformation of the Russian economy into a military economy, which may soon be needed in our country.
In addition, the historiographical aspect of studying such an important topic related to the Great Patriotic War and the war economy of the USSR has always been, remains and will remain relevant. This is because new interesting books are constantly appearing, new authors appear, which reveal original ideas. Therefore, this topic is timeless and constantly attracts the attention of new authors.
